I need to know what software to use to get into my router to configure it.
Is their a file that needs to be altered on my LAN internal machine. I am new to this but i know what it is i need to configure just dont know how to get into the router.

You can use Cisco Configmaker. It doesnt support, all routers, but you might want to check if your router is supported.

The above software uses GUI.
You can use the CLI of the router to configure it. To access the CLI, you need a terminal emulation software such as hyperterminal.

Use the supplied serial cable and plug it into the console port on the router. Then fire up Hyperterm(If your using windows) and configure the connection to 9600,8,N,1
