Hi,
I have several users who sometimes must use a dial-up RAS connection to download/upload their email. Internet access is not always available where they are traveling. We currently use Microsoft's RAS server but it can be flaky. Am I correct that Cisco has a type of dial-in server/router that could be used for this purpose? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are a wide range of platforms that can be used as an Access server for dial up users.
AS5350 / AS5400 when using T1/E1 lines & internal digital modems
C3600/C3700 with T1 lines & internal digital modems also can use internal analog modems (NM-AM).
The correct choice will depend on what the setup requirements are:
1) Number of simultaneous calls expected & average connect time.
2) Whether we have a T1/E1 (PRI/ CAS) connectivity or just POTS phone lines.
Thanks, Mak

Mak,
We have very simple needs. Just one POTS (maybe two) line. It would be rare for the number of simultaneous calls to go beyond 1 since there are only about 4 people who would be using this. So I guess the C3600/C3700 would work? Does this mean I wouldn't need to use Microsoft's RRAS server at all?
Thanks for your help.

In fact a c1700 (say c1751) or a c2600 with a WIC-2AM would do the job, this will be a complete replacement for the MS RAS server.
