I currently have serial dumb terminals (VT100, e.g.) attached to a variety of devices (PBXs, e.g.) located in remote offices with Cisco 3600 routers. Id like to dispose of the dumb terminals altogether and telnet to these devices from within our office network using a terminal emulation package such as HyperTerminal. Is it possible to accomplish this by connecting the console cables from these devices to the routers using asynchronous serial modules (e.g. WIC-2A/S, WIC-2T, or MN-4A/S)? Is there any detailed guidance available on this topic?
