I have a Cisco 2503 router (I know it's kinda outdated) and i can't seem to be able to log on to the console. I am using an RJ-45 to DB-9 female connector (roll-over), with the DB-9 female connector going into my terminal's COM1 port. (I've also tried using COM2, both COM ports are working) RJ-45 going into the router's console port. I am using Hyper terminal (Windows 2000 server) to dial in, settings for Hyperterminal are as follows:
Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1 or 2 (tried both)
Flow control: None
Connect using: COM1
Is there anything that I've left unconfigured? As i know of, this is the default configurations to dial into the console. However, I can't seem to be able to dial-in through the router console. The LED labeled 'OK' is on (green), it is powered up and running. Please assist anyone? Really appreciate the help

9600,8,0,1,None is correct. I have had similar troubles with Win2k myself, rebooting the server cured it for me. The hyperterminal seemed to die.
Failing that, are you able to telnet in via serial or ethernet? To see what the config register is set to.

I have tried rebooting the server, but hyperterminal seems to fail me! The router was previously configured by a systems engineer who is no longer with the company. I figured out telnetting too but don't know the IP add set for it. Furthermore i don't have the vty password with me. The only way i've figured out is via console port. Thought if i could connect via console, I could then probably reset the register.

Hate to mention it once more but...
The last one having this very same problem on a2500 was connected to the AUX-port instead of the console.
Are you sure that you are plugged into the right hole?
