Hi All,
Just bought a new Cisco 2514 for my CCNP exam, needed to know what cables are required for the AUI, Serial, Console and AUX ports. Also was wondering how to connect the router to my PC.
All replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1) AUI: This requires a small box known as an AUI adapter or transciever. Basically an AUI port is a portable interface on which you can put an adapter for the 10BaseT we all know and love, 10Base2 thin-net Ethernet or other Ethernet media.
2) Console and Aux ports: You want rollover cables and DB9 or DB25 adapters. Pinouts are available if you search CCO. The cable itself is wired in exact reverse - 12345678 to 87654321. If you know anyone at a company that deploys a lot of Cisco equipment, they'll have scads of these on-hand and would probably give you one.
3) Serial: You need DB6- to-whatever you want. CSU/DSUs typically take v.35 DTE or RS530 DTE connections. If you want to connect two routers' serial ports back to back, you need DTE to DCE v.35 or RS530 cables (either will do). The Cisco part numbers are CAB-XXXYY where XXX is 'V35', '530' (RS530) or otherwise, and YY is 'MT' for DTE and 'FC' for DCE.
