java runtime errors when loading device manager

I have just installed ciscoworks commom services

(CiscoWorks VMS management and Monitoring Centers)

on a windows 2000 server.(standalone) i cam load ciscoworks, however when i launch the device manager it tries to install a differnet version of java 1.3.1..if i do this the browers crashes.

Could someone tell me what version i should using to make everythinf compateble and work fine.

I will be installing the IDS MC after i get the comon services running properly

Is this the latest Common Services version 2.2?. If so, then you need to also install the VMS Update-1 patch from CCO first. This adds support for the new Java Plug-in 1.4.1_02, which could be the problem in your case

Could this be causing a problem with ITEM and LMS as well, where JRE 1.4 was inadvertently loaded on the server and now ITEM's web browser goes into an infinite loop of saying that it is in error and reloading itself?

Is there an easy way to just remove the 1.4 JRE from the servers?
