Hello,
When i am trying to follow the procedure of 'recovering password' on Router 3660, during booting, it displays message that "PASSWORD RECOVERY FUNCTIONALITY IS DISABLED". I guess this is due to the wrong registry setup. Becasue of this, I am not able to break the booting process and can't reset the password.
Please suggest any solution.
DOes the router has any jumpers on the main board to override the registry settings? Is Bios/ROM (i assume BIOS has registry setting) replaceable?
thanks in advance for your inputs and suggestion

Did you change the config register at the rommon boot prompt?
rommon 1> confreg 0x2142
This should do the trick for you. Attached the link for password recovery for the 3660 just in case: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/474/pswdrec_3600.shtml
Good luck.

Rakesh,
If the router doesn't take a break it sounds like you are in trouble. What kind of terminal program are you using to console in ?

thanks for the suggestions.
I have found workaround.
- i removed FLash from the router and then powered ON. This way router was forced to go into ROMMON mode. There i could now change the Registry value. While restarting the router, i put back the flash.
And could change the password with "password recovery process".
(the problem was, because of wrong registry settings, router was not accepting the 'break' sequence while booting)
thanks and regards

i was able to get pass this issue recently...
Its a time sensitive issue...
I would reccommend you print and have it in front of you.
did this on 2 3620 and 1 2611, with the password recovery disabled.
This problem drove me nuts...trying to figure it out. (i am pertty much self learned Cisco specialist with no certification..so i am not bragging as i am still in a learning mode.
Good Luck!!
This is what i did...and it worked.
