Greetings,
Just a quick question. Does anyone know if you can install an IDSM-2 into a Catalyst 6009 chasis?
I realize there are some minimums required (i.e. - CatOS/IOS version appropriate for supervisor card revision in use), but the documentation isn't clear if it will work in this specific chasis if the minimums are met.
Everything seems to imply that a 6500-series switch is necessary, though the 6009 is mentioned in passing.
Assistance is greatly appreciated.
Alex

If you have the right Sup and OS types and versions, then yes the 6009 chassis will work just fine. I've run it myself.
In our IDS QA lab we consistently test the IDSM-2 on the 6006, 6506, 6009, 6509, 6509-NEBS, 6513, switches and the 7609 router chassis.

As far as I know it is supported and we have it here running. Take a look at this link the pdf is about 4MB
www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/products/ps2113/c1679/ccmigration_09186a00801a229b.pdf Page 152

I read that exact document (well, actually the HTML version posted here - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2113/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801a0c5f.html) and found that it was pretty vague about supported hardware platforms.
If you're running an IDSM-2 in a 6009 chassis, then I have my answer. Nothing is better than testimonial confirmation...
Thanks,
Alex
