I have 2 Windows Server 2003 Enterprise servers and all Windows XP clients. I'd like to install CSA but I need to get the VMS on one of my servers. The VMS documentation says it needs Windows 2000. Is there any way to get it installed on my 2003 servers or do I have to wait for an updated version? When I try to install it says that Windows 2000 is required.
Thanks,
Brandon

Hey Brandon -
VMS 2.2 does not support Win 2003 as you have experienced. VMS 2.3 will, but is not due out until late this year, early next year.
CSA as an agent can be installed on Win 2003 with version 4.0.3 or later.
Hope this information is helpful. Let us know if you have any other questions.
thanks

Don't I need the VMS 2.2 to be installed in order to install the agent?

Hey there -
Yes, a management server running CSA MC (part of VMS 2.2) is required to have a functional CSA deployment. This has to be a Windows 2000 server. VMS 2.3 will permit this to be a Windows 2003 server in a few months.
Agents can be deployed on Windows NT, XP, and 2003 systems. These kits are downloaded from the CSA MC, mentioned above.
I hope this helps and apologize for the confusion.
Please let us know if you additional questions.
thanks

Hi,
It appears that VMS 2.3 does not support Windows 2003. Is that definitely the case? If so, when Win2003 be supported on VMS?
Many thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt -
You are correct that VMS 2.3 does not support Windows 2003. Support will likely be added in 3.x which will possibly release this fall.
Hope this helps,
peter

Hello
According to our company policy they cannot provide Windows 2000 Server because it will not be supported by Microsoft.
I want to install VMS 2.2 for a project. Is there any update available from Cisco or any work around so that it can be installed on Windows 2003.
Can Cisco give us a tentative date or plan when VMS 2.2 or 2.3 can be installed on Widows 2003?
Thanks
Best regards,
Yasir

So far I haven't heard anything about a new version with support for Windows 2003. I installed it on a Windows 2000 Professional machine we had at our office for now. I only was using it for the CSA Management Console however, not too much of a load was being put on it.
