changing card readers

I need to change several existing doors utilizing mag stripe readers to iclass RK40C card readers. Several hundred cards access these doors, so it is not feasible to delete/rebuild door. Is there any way to delete/replace a device on an active door? I am currently running CPAM 1.3.1.

Hey Mel,

Unfortunately, you cannot change the reader template on a door that is configured.  With that in mind, here is

the best method to associate the new reader;

1)  Via the CPAM client  Admin -> System Configuration -> Miscellaneous

Check Allow deletion of items that normally may not be disabled

Check Allow deletion of devices with events

Restart the client

2) Create new door template and built it with the new reader template

3) Remove existing door from all Access Policies it is associated with

4) Disable the existing door

5) Delete the existing door which will also delete all the devices associated with it

6) Perform apply configuration changes to the Gateway to free up the interfaces (reader, input and outputs)

7) Create a new door on that Gateway

8) Associate the same devices to the same interfaces (with the new reader in

place)

9) Add the door back into the Access Policies
