I think the easiest way is to edit your template to a lower quality or bitrate. this will reduce the size of the archived streams and will, over time, correct your issue. This is assuming you have already adjusted the media server to 98% storage.

Was hitting your storage capacity in any way anticipated?  Do you know why you are currently over subscribed?  I would personally begin by comparing your original sizing calculations to the actuals that are accumulating on the media server(s).  I've found the VSMC Monitoring page for "Recordings" to give some valuable data here.  Perhaps you have one or more archivers that aren't behaving as they are supposed to.

Best of luck!

Richard Newberry and Scott Olsen,

Thanks for your replies...

When I adjust the media server to 98% then I get a File system usage on /media1 is critical error. I then adjust it back to 95% but still over -subscribed. Really don't want to lower the quality which defeats having HD cameras.  I have custom templates set up with Single steam and continuous recording, Codec H.264, Resolution at 1920x1080, Framrate at 10 and Bitrate at 2000. I believe the issue is when the calculations were originally done it was not taking into account the Raid 6 percentage so instead of 24TB of usable space I'm only getting 19.1TB of usable space. So I can either increase the storage amount or change the template of less days of retained continuous recordings from 21 to a lower number.  Retained event recordings is at 30 days.

There is also a storage estimation % under Storage Management, what does that affect this and is it it direct corrolation to the Storage %? For example if I have Storage set at 96% do I have to have Storage Estimation set at 4%?

Thanks,

Scott
