Upgrading from 7.7 to 7.9. I have media servers running RHEL 5.11 & 6.6.
Do I have to upgrade the 5.11 to 6.6 before upgrading to 7.9?
If so where or how do I up grade the Red Hat?

You want to preserve the archives correct? If not you can use the ISO image and then load the config back on once you have upgraded. I have not seen a technote from Cisco on how to upgrade the RHEL OS and preserve video as of yet.
Have you called TAC to see what they say?
Good luck on the upgrade!

This would depend on what underlying platform you are working with here. Are they VMs? CPS-UCS? CPS-MSP?

Oh yeah the MSPs are not supported for VSM7.9, end of an era.
Release 7.9 Not Supported on CPS-MSP-xRU-K9
Release 7.9 is not supported on the Cisco Physical Security Platform servers CPS-MSP-1RU-K9 or
CPS-MSP-2RU-K9.

Yup. Not particularly pleased about this development myself. This impacts our lab servers. Now I have to hack up Cisco's XML files and upgrade scripts >:-|

All boxes are ucs.
From what I can find out, I will have to use the recovery software which is 7.8.
But it also upgrades the RHEL to 6.
Then I can upgrade everything to 7.9
Hope it works without any problems
