VSOM on a Service Module

I have a 2911 router with a Service Module installed and I want to put VSOM on the unit.

Can anyone send reply with a link to do this?

Thanks for the links but those appear to be for installing VSOM in a virtualized enviorment. I have a 2911 router with a physical service module installed. I was hoping for a document to assist with that.

What version of VSM do you intend to install?  Unless I'm mistaken, the only valid router deployment is via UCS Express on an SRE module.

If memory serves, there *was* a VSM 4.1/6.1 (?) configuration that was a native instal on an older NME module, but that is long since EOL.

That is what I was trying to install, I didn't know it was EoL. That would explain a lot then.

So can VSOM be installed on a 2911 router still using the previous links? Or does that only apply to installing virtually? 

I understand that the way I'm trying to do this is EOL but the customer still wants to proceed with install VMSS via service module.

I have read through a few documents and I am trying to use the boot helper and I can see that the file transfers sucessfully transfers and the SM reboots but does go into the install setup like the document said it should. It goes back the "Press *** Begin"

Any thoughts??

If memory serves the VMSS module are running RHEL4 instead of SUSE10SP1 like the MSP modules. Can you tell us what version you are trying to load on the VMSS?

I installed some of these years ago but nothing recently. Good luck!

These are the files I'm trying to load:

vmss-boothelper.sme.6.2.2

vmss-full-k9.sme.6.2.2.prt1

vmss-installer-k9.sme.6.2.2.prt1

vmss-k9.sme.6.2.2.key

vmss-k9.sme.6.2.2.pkg

vmss-k9.sme.6.2.2.pkg.install.sre

vmss-k9.sme.6.2.2.pkg.install.sre.header

Once I TFTP the files and run the "boot helper" command I see the boothelper file fully transfers and module reloads as it should but once is comes back up it, nothing happens. It acts like nothing is on the module.

Any thoughts?

The checksum is correct, I'm starting to think that this could be a physical issue.

I installed this exact same setup at another location using

SM-SRE-700-K9 and it installed perfect but I am trying to use a

SM-SRE-910-K9 have you or anyone else heard of this issues while trying to install VMSS?

Unfortunately no, I don't have much experience with the VMSS install, but I did find a Cisco document that appears to confirm it *is* possible on an SRE-900.  I wonder if the 910 just isn't possible?  I don't recall what the big changes were, but perhaps the platform hardware changed too much and the image just isn't able to deal with the hardware?
