Inter VLAN routing on cisco SG300

Hi,

I have referred lots of details on internet for simple config of my SG300-28 switch i.e. "Inter VLAN routing on cisco SG300", hava found lots of solutions and many of them are so simple on paper but when I try them I failed. Please help me find where I am making a mist

Creat two VLAN 1)192.168.1.254 and 2) 192.168.2.254

REQUIREMENT

VLAN 1 (default VLAN)

IP

192.168.1.254 - default

Name

VLAN 1 (default VLAN)

Client

192.168.1.100

Client gateway

192.168.1.254

VLAN 2 (user created)

IP

192.168.2.254

Name

VLAN 2 (TEST)

Client

192.168.2.100

Client gateway

192.168.2.254

Needs intervlan routing so that I can get ping reply from 192.168.1.100 when try to ping from 192.168.2.100

similarly from 192.168.2.100 when I try to ping from 192.168.1.100

STEPS I AM FOLLOWING

Unbox the switch and login to it using browser 192.1681.254 (google chrome)

Change the password as asked when login frirst time

Change the switch mode from L2 to L3

On saving switch reboots and after reboot I can see the switch mode is L3 nos

I go to create VLAN

Now I can see VLAN 1 - default with IP address 192.168.1.254

I add new VLAN i.e VLAN 2, name - TEST

On checking the port types / assignement I can see all ports are untagged and trunk for VLAN -1

I go to VLAN 2 and I make port 2 untagged member of VLAN 2 and the same is traunk type by default

Now I change Port 1 and 2 both as Access by editing them

Now finally switch port 1 is an untanned , access port of VLAN -1 where I am connecting my PC with IP 192.168.1.100

Switch port 2 is an untanned , access port of VLAN -2 where I am connecting my PC with IP 192.168.2.100

Now I go to IP interface and select VLAN 2 to give an IP address to it i.e 192.168.2.254 but when I selecet "apply" immediately switch hangs and I cant do any thing

I have to reboot the switch with power off / on

Same things repeats every time

Please help
