Connecting RVS4000 routers

I am attempting to connect 3 RVS4000 routers in order to provide a secure link across three sites

I have setup each router on the DMZ zone of a Belkin ADSL modem wireless router (pre-existing home networks)

I can do the following:

  • Access each of the router remotely using remote admin 8080 etc
  • VPN into each router using a 3rd party VPN client (thegreenbow)
  • I can setup VPN networks using the Cisco VPN wizard, where it remotely defines and setups VPN link on both routers

What I can't do

  • Get the Cisco Quick VPN client to work outside of the Belkin router domain
  • Get the VPN network to actually connect
    • It fails the testing phase during setup
    • And defies all ttempts to manually tweak settings to work

I did try connecting Cisco help line and I am still awaiting contact from their nominated 3rd party reseller after over a week

I have tried most things, but I am open any ideas of how I can get this to work?

I am particularly keen to be able to link the networks?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris---I believe we talked just yesterday about your case.  We determined that the Belkin Modem/Router would have to be placed in Bridge Mode in order for the Modem to hand over the Public IP address to the RVS4000. You were unable to get the Belkin device in Bridge Mode and you are now going to try and replace the Belkin Modem/Router with a Modem "Only". You will be good to go with the RVS4000's as soon as you are able to get a Public IP address assigned to the RVS4000  from the Modem.  If you need further assistance please let us know.

Hi

After talking with a local reseller, they recommended the following for my

ADSL VPN connection needs

DrayTek Vigor 120 - DSL modem - external - Fast Ethernet

Any comment?

It appears to be transparent modem, I could check the method by

re-configuring the Belkin Routers to Modem only modes?

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

Not sure what  was done on the case you opened with Cisco SBSC but to have a successful vpn tunnel or Qvpn you will need to have the belkinrouter/model to only act as a modem. Once this is completed and the belkin device is passing the public information over to the Cisco router you should be able to get a IPsec tunnel/vpn established as long ISP isn't blocking any traffic.

Private addresses

10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255

172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255

192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255

So any address outside of these scopes are considered public addressing.
