QuickVPN v1.4.2.1 (RV082) uninstall freezes in Windows 7

I installed QuickVPN v1.4.2.1 as it was in the download section on Linksys:

http://software.cisco.com/download/type.html?mdfid=282414011&flowid=785

for the RV082 router we have. It connected but the program seemed buggy as there seemed to be no way to close the program after I used it so I wanted to uninstall it and install a more recent version of QuickVPN (side question: is it possible to VPN connect to my RV082 router with a different version of QuickVPN?).

I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 with all the latest updates. When I try to uninstall the program, at about the 25% mark of the window for 'QuickVPN Client Setup is preparing the InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please wait.' it seems to stop responding as holding the mouse over that windows just displayes a ring which goes round and round. I regret installing this buggy software on my PC. Any ideas how I can remove it?

Dear Jeffrey,

Thanks for the reply. Would a QuickVPN version other than v1.4.2.1 which is from 2011 work with connecting to the RV082 VPN?

BTW I'm able to use QuickVPN to connect to my VPN. It's just that the uninstaller will always hang in Windows 7 Pro 64bit so the software can't be uninstalled.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

The Quick VPN client release v.1.4.2.1 is the same for all these RV Small Business series routers so I could not suggest a different release version.

Regarding the uninstaller issue I would still suggest you to contact Small Business Support Center for assistance.  I am sorry I can not be a better help and thank you for your time and patience.

Best regards,

I was using quickvpn fine on so many PC until today. One of my quickvpn (win 7 Ulti, 1.4.2.1) decided to stop working today. Can't remember when it last worked but this PC is fresh reinstall in Apr 2013 so 2 months ago it was still working. I'm guessing a new windows update screwed it up so I unintsall all june windows updates, disable all firewall, disable and uninstall all antivirus. Not working. Guessing my router is messing up, I rebooted it, opened my Win 8 laptop running quickvpn in win7 emulation, on the same network, and bingo! quick and snappy connection.

So I decided to uninstall it, seems like it hangs at 25%, reinstall also does the same thing. So something is messing with my quickvpn. i'm trying to backtrack and uninstall everything in the last few weeks but if it doesn't work, I'll format and reinstall the OS again.

One thing off the top of my head today that is messing it up is wget. I installed wget for windows and uninstalled it. I noticed quickvpn uses it as well. I'm thinking if this is the cause for quickvpn to hang
