I was looking at the RV016, thinking that it might be perfect for a situation I have, and there seems to be many references in various forums for simpleVLAN support for this model, i.e. designating a range of physical ports to a VLAN. But the documentation on Cisco's site for this model makes no mention of VLAN support at all. Has it been removed from this model for some reason? Was this a feature on the pre-merger Linksys version that is now gone, or is the feature undocumented for some reason?

The VLAN feature is covered in the Chapter 6 of the RV0xx administration guide.

Hi Douglas,
Thank you for posting. The RV0xx routers support multiple subnets but do not support VLAN tagging or trunking.

How can I isolate a network in this device?
I wanna put a guest wifi network here in the company, but I just wanna they to access the internet, not the local network.

Hi Daniel,
You need to configure multiple subnets - in order to have 2 IP ranges.
Thann you need to chose different VLANs on 2 ports of RV016 (Port Management > Port Setup) - for example VLAN1 on port1 and VLAN2 on port 2 - thus you will separate the trafic on the 2 ports. You can connect your LAN on port1 and the AP for guest wifi on port2. Both subnets will have access to i-net, but not one to each other.

Kremena

I have a DNS server in the lan, so if you type for ex.: "Intranet" in the browser that page will open, if o put it in a different lan will apper too?
Do I need just to put some other public dns, like open dns or another, in that isolated network?

Yes, you need a public DNS. Because if the DNS server is connected on port 1 (VLAN1) and the computer is connected on port 2 (VLAN 2 ) - the request from port 2 will not go to port 1, i.e. will not reach the DNS server

The rv016 will do vlan with some limitations. One is that the dhcp server will only work for a single vlan. You will need to configure either a dhcp server for other ranges or just assign static IPs. The second major limitation I've found is that the vlans don't work over vpn. Ie, both vlans will have access to the other site in a site to site vpn configuration.
