Good Day,
We have implemented Cisco Protectlink Web Protection on our network.
By choosing the categories that we want to block everything worked well until we have noticed that when users try to browse social networking sites
like www.facebook.com this site is blocked but when users type in https://www.facebook.com users that go directly to facebook.
and also with youtube if they add https:// users can then bypass our network block.
Is this somewhat a bug on the Protectlink Categories blocking??..
Hoping for your immediate response..
Thank You.

You could consider ASA5505 or IOS-based routers.

URL Filtering cannot be applied to https traffic. This is a common known limitation of small business routers.

Hi Tekliu,
Thanks for your response.
So you're saying that this limitation is because of small business routers? this is not about Protectlink Categories?
Is there any other ways that we could possibly block those https traffic?
