Hi,
I have a small problem with pptp.
It is enabled, i've added new user for pptp and nothing. Can't connect.
Isn't that right that I should see tcp port 1723 open from the internet for the pptp to work?

Hi Michal, a simple test you may do is set the router remote management port to 1723 and see if you can remote manage the router while you're off network.
I've not found any problems with my RV215W connecting for PPTP as it is pretty basic like all the other sb routers. What is the WAN IP of your RV215? What vendor and model is your modem? Where are you trying to connect to the PPTP from?

Hi Tom,
I've set the menagement port to 1723 and it works without problem.
Shouldn't there be an error or something while setting it, if pptp is enabled ?
How can I check if the pptp server realy runs because it looks like it doesn't.
When I scan the router from the internet, I only see the TCP port 443 open ( probably QuickVPN ), nothing else.

What are you using to scan and see if the port is open? Many scanning tools will only scan the first 1024 ports. Try:
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and enter 1723 as the port to scan.
What client are you trying to connect?

First of all, I know how to scan ports and if I'm saying that the 1723 port is not open then it is not open.
This is output from your online tool:
Port 1723 is closed on XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
The only question is why, because for pptp to work, it should be open ,yes ?
I switched the PPTP server off and on again, rebooted, even restored factory default's, and nothing.
Can I somehow connect to the router without GUI and check if the service starts, or something ?
Logs are not saying anything.

Port 1723 should be open if PPTP is enabled. If it works with Remote Management then clearly the ISP is not blocking the port. There is no CLI access to the Small Business routers.
If you have the latest firmware installed, call support at 1-866-606-1866 and open a case. If there is a problem with your hardware we can replace it. If there is some conflict with your configuration we can escalate the case and get it resolved with firmware.

the router does have the latest firmware.
I will open a case for this if there is no any other way for me to check what's wrong and fix this.

Hello,
same issue happens to me, I'm unable to connect using PPTP VPN.
In my case port 1723 is open (I checked it using the webpage given above).
I could connect once but the next day it didn't work anymore and I didn't change any configuration.
I captured some packets using Wireshark tool and I see that RV215W is not answering the TCP SYN packet from the PPTP connection.
My public IP is given by DynDNS, can be this the problem?
Other services behind the router works fine using Port Forwarding.

One way to see if dyndns is the issue is to use the direct IP address of the router vs a dyndns name. I don't think it should be a factor at all, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
