Hi
I bought a new RV215W. I will use this router only with 3G connection.
The router can not find my Huawei E372 German T-Mobile stick.
Status: Unable to detect USB Mobile Modem
I have now test some other USB mobile modems like: Huawei E122, E352 and ZTE MF626
The RV215W has always the same Status:Unable to detect USB Mobile Modem
Firmware RV215W is
RV215W_FW_1.1.0.6
What is the problem?

Hi
It is working now.
Downgrade to RV215W_FW_1.1.0.5

Interesting that it works on .5 and not .6.
I will ask my team to take a look Hermann.

Hi Hermann, when you use v1.1.0.5, did you ever upload any dongle module file?
The HW E372 use the same driver with Huawei_E182E_E368.enc. You can get the
Huawei_E182E_E368.enc driver from
Click 1.1.0.5, then download the
USB_dynamic_module_file.zip. Extract it and upload the
Huawei_E182E_E368.enc to GUI>Network>dynamic USB update page.

Hi
I use v1.1.0.5 with the donge module file HUAWEI_E398_EC156.
Both together is working fine.
The HUAWEI_E398_EC156 module file with v1.1.0.6 isn't working.
Huawei_E182E_E368.enc module file with v1.1.0.6 isn't working.
Other question: is the PPTP VPN service not listening on the 3G port?

Hi Hermann, thank you for the information. PPTP service should also listen on 3G port. If your ISP provide the public address, it should work.

Hi
No, on port 1723 is the router not listening.
I made the test like
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/4005517#4005517
Only if I change the Remote Management Port to 1723 and enable Remote Management, then is the port open. But then I can't also not connect with the PPTP Client.
With my previous router (asus) it was not a problem.

Hi
I tested now with a other PPTP server in my network with port forwarding on the RV215W. It’s working perfect. It seems the PPTP Service ist not running on the RV215W. But I don’t understand why?
If I Disable and Enable the PPTP Server I can’t see nothing in the LOG file about stop and start the service. Only this
1 2014-01-04 6:20:04 PM info pptpd[15555]: MGR: Maximum of 5 connections available
2 2014-01-04 6:20:04 PM info pptpd[15555]: MGR: Manager process started
3 2014-01-04 6:20:04 PM info pptpd[15551]: MGR: Maximum of 100 connections reduced to 5, not enough IP addresses given
I think the PPTP Server is not running.
How can I start the server?

Hi Hermann, there is probably a bug on PPTP via 3G link. We are investigating. Thanks for reporting this. We'll get back to you soon.

Hi
I have a case number for this issue:
628716573
I've send all LOGs to this case number.

Hi Hermann
You are right. In v1.1.0.6 and before, the PPTP service is only active for ethernet WAN, not for 3G interface. We'll make it active for 3G interface in release 1.2.0.x. Please kindly wait for the next release. Or you can ask for a beta firmware via the case number after several weeks. Thanks again for reporting this!

Any estimated time on a firmware update solving this 3G/VPN bug? Is there a beta firmware somewhere to be found and tested? ;-)
