Hello,
Can someone please tell me whats going on with this router.
I received it yesterday and have set it up but I'm having various issue with it.
The main reason for the purchase was for the VPN capabilities. My previous setup was using a Apple Time Capsule as the main router taking an internet connection from a Netgear DM111P ASDL modem running PPPoA bridging (ISP is Sky). Unfortunately the Time Capsule does not have any kind of VPN capabilities. As the RV220W is not simultanious dual band WiFi like the Time Capsule I have decided to keep the Time Capsule on the network in bridge mode (basically just an access point and NAS drive) as the main access point. I have setup the WiFi on the RV220W to only serve a guest WiFi connection to the internet on a seperate VLAN. The Time Capsule also had the guest WiFi feature but is only usable when being used as the main router and NAT. So, I've basically got it setup in that I have the exact same functionality as I had before except now the RV220W is the main router and NAT.
So on to setting up the VPN options.
PPTP:
Seemed simple enough, enable the PPTP server, declare a start and end address, add some users. Gave it a try and it worked. Great! But now for no apparent reason it has stopped working and I can't understand why. The windows client now tells me that it can't match the username and password to an account or there is a problem with the authentication. Double checked the PPTP server is enabled. Yes. Double checked the user is still valid and enabled. Yes. Just can't see what the problem is and very annoying seeing as it did work earlier on.
SSL:
Added a test user, went through the portal to run the client. Then found out for some reason it doesn't like Chrome. Virtual passage execution error. So tried with 32bit IE, this got a little further then told me I had to use it with a 64bit browser! Luckly my machine is 64bit so I moved to 64bit IE and it finally installed the client and connected. Great. But when you close the browser it closes the connection! Even though in the properties of the client there is an option to uninstall client on browser exit which was un-ticked. I thought the whole point of SSL VPN was to install the client on first connection and from there on in you can just connect using the client thats installed on the machine, without actually opening the browser? This is my experiance in the past with SSL VPN connections using Juniper Networks. I also find it weird that in the specifications it states that the SSL client is compatible with 32 and 64 bit browsers when its clearly not.
I am also having an issue where the host name will not change. I have tried three times now but it just wont change from default after the long reboot. Even if I try to ping the default name I dont get a response though.
There also seem to be some short falls with the inter VLAN routing.
Can anyone shed any light on my experiances and perhaps point me towards the answers?
Many thanks.

Can anyone from Cisco comment on this? Please help.
I have been doing some testing and found that the PPTP VPN client connects from a Mac but not PC. There is also another issue now whereby I cannot ping anything on the main VLAN. There seems to be some kind of routing issue. Although the VPN connects I cannot communicate with anything on the network.
Please help. This has surely got be firmware related?!?!
Many thanks.
Damien

Damien, given so many issues you have with the current firmware, I would recommend you call Small Business Support Center for immediate help.
