RV320 Latest Firmware 1.4.2.17 Will Not Load

The latest firmware for the RV320 posted Nov 17 as 1.4.2.17.  I just downloaded and attempted to update to one of our bench RV320's running 1.4.2.15. After it uploaded to the router, it kicked back a dialog saying bad firmware.

Re-downloading resulted in the same message.

Would someone check to see if there's an error in the .bin build?

I have exactly same problem, after having huge problems with 1.4.2.15 (https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/small-business-routers/rv325-login-issue-after-upgrading-to-1-4-2-15/m-p/3200048#M34064).

I am not a specialist but I noticed something interesting: all FW versions for RV320 are way over 30 MB (34, 35, 36 and above).

The 1.4.2.17 is the only one under 30, is exactly 25.67 MB (a significant difference), which may indicate that they mounted a wrong version.

Very, very disappointed by cisco.

I was just checking on this issue, as I was having issues over the weekend as well. I just took a look at the firmware download page and the file size is now 34.80MB (was under 26MB before)? Has anyone tried this copy, or see any indications the Cisco has updated the file?

I tried it and it works.

Cisco didn’t anounced anything.

1.4.2.17 is exactly same size with 1.4.2.15.

Exactly the same.

I've got 4 pcs of RV 325 - upgrade all of them reproduces the error "Bad firmware". It's rather bug in .bin file - checksum verified. Error appears also through USB upgrade.

I also have had the same issue. I uploaded onto a 1.2 version device, and had to recover with TFTP. I loaded 1.2 back up, then upgraded to 1.3, and all was fine. From there, i also get the "bad firmware" error. I'm guessing someone uploaded a bit hasty on Friday before Thanksgiving break :-p

Hi everyone!

I'm kind of new here and I don't usually dare to upgrade/update this kind of firmwares.

Today I gave it a try and tried to update the firmware of my RV320 through my Mac with the version 1.4.2.17 and the router stopped and is showing permanently the red diagnose light and the blinking power green light.

How can I fix the problem? Right now I'm not even able to connect to the router...

Same results here with RV325. The exact error message is: "Bad upgrade file ! Please input a correct file or reboot the system to ensure the device works normally."

I just tried to upgrade from 1.4.2.15 to 1.4.2.17 and got very similar results; after about a minute into the upgrade process, received a dialog box indicating "Bad file..."and told me to restart the router to ensure everything was working correctly.  I did restart, but DHCP - which is turned off during the upgrade, was still not working after the reboot.  I had to reimage with v1.4.2.15.

I also noticed the unusually small file size, which to me indicates there was a problem during compilation.

They removed the SSL VPN feature, so maybe that would account for the smaller file size.

It appears Cisco re-uploaded the .bin fine for 1.4.2.17. It "does" load now.

The correct RV32X_v1.4.2.17_20171030-code.bin shows 35,628-KB size. 

The earlier upload size was 26,282-KB. 

Good catch and comments by others on this thread!

Would have been nice for Cisco to "ack" this. But at least it's corrected.

It is at least strange because my downloaded version of RV32X_v1.4.2.17_20171030-code.bin is 34.7 MB (36.483.072 bytes) and not 35.628 MB as you mention.

Moreover, I noticed that RV32X_v1.4.2.17_20171030-code.bin and RV32X_v1.4.2.15_20170814-code.bin are absolutely identical in size (see the attach). Identical, up to the last byte (both are 36.483.072 bytes). Interesting.

I am not supporting the conspiracy theory, but is strange because this never happened on previous versions. Maybe Cisco is just buying some time.

Please look at my picture again. Today I downloaded from cisco the file again, so attaching new screenshots, you can see the difference between Friday download and Thuesday today download.

I don't now what happens. Maybe are regional differences.

On my download page is 34,80 MB.

I notice that on your picture, versions 15 and 17 are also perfectly identical in size.
