I think there is no module available for 2800 series router with which we can have more routed ethernet ports. Does anyone know if we can use such network module of old 3600 series router?

Thanks

You can add more ports using NM's. or even a hwic-4esw. These ports can be configured with vlans and then you can route through those vlans. If you are looking for NM's. there are modules such as

NM-2FE-2W-v2 and many others that have a built in ethernet port on the NM.

Thanks Shanky. I eventually decided to go for 3825 model... because of sizing as i am replacing my 3640 model.

Hi

Can You please explain how to configure the hwic-4esw with vlans for routing? I need to do something simple as this with my cisco2811 and one hwic-4esw:

interface fa0/0

ip address 172.17.2.1 255.255.255.0

!

interface fa0/1

ip address 172.17.3.1 255.255.255.0

!

interface fa0/2

ip address 172.17.100.1 255.255.255.0

!

interface fa0/3

ip address 172.17.101.1 255.255.255.0

!

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.17.2.2

ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.3.10

ip route 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.100.5

The networks 172.17.2.0/24, 172.17.3.0/24, 172.17.100.0/24 and 172.17.101.0/24 are 4 physically separated networks in 4 different switches.
