3660 router replacement

our current router 3660 took a dump on us. we had 3 interfaces from 2 difference carriers doing bgp 4. now, our band-aid was to put back 2513 in production with one interface active, but the bandwidth is killing us.

i need router recommendations for our new design, we want 2 routers doing hot standby (hsrp) with each router doing load balancing (bgp 4) with 2 or 3 different carries. also, the router has to handle ds3 for future use.

thanks,

mike kim

I agree. 3845 is a very good choice, be sure you order enough memory if you are going to be receiving full routes from the carriers in doing BGP.

3845 might be too big for our needs. I was looking at 2811 and add T3 interface for future upgrade. Is there any other routers below 3660 that will handle our scenario?

Hi,

2811 with 768MB (max) might get the job done. Performance wise, it is slightly better than 3660 (check documents below). The 2811 also has 1 NM slot that supports the NM-1A-T3 module, and 4 HWICs.

But again, I have to agree that the 3845 choice is a better investment.

Great information on integrated services routers. It sounds like 3845 is a better choice for future growth. Thanks all for your input.
