Dears,

i am facing big issue in my remote branch. i have cisco router 2800 series equiped with 3G-HWIC-GSM card. and the 3G connection terminates on 7600 router in HQ site.

the issue is as following:

when send an e-mail with 3 or 4 attachment files from branch site the mail received with only one attachment file or sometimes no attachments are received at all.

Please let me know if this issue is related to 3G network it self or due to missing configuration? Also please advice how to solve this issue?

Regards,

Hello Alaa,

>> when send an e-mail with 3 or 4 attachment files from branch site the mail received with only one attachment file or sometimes no attachments are received at al

At the network level I would check if there is any MTU issue.

Another aspect to investigate is how the attachments are sent to the mail server you may need to open additional TCP ports for example FTP (but this would mean no attachments received all the times and it is not your case).

Both MTU problems and ports not opened for file transfers should lead to no attachments received all the times (unless small attachments are passing because not affected ny mtu issues)

However, it can be also a problem at an higher level like application or security rules on the server.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Is it any kind of attachments or just certain kinds. Most modern mail servers, mail server security mechanisims, and email clients will filter out certain attachements.

Also, is there any consitentcy between the size of these attachments. Can you identify a size threshold over which problems begin to occur.
