Hi all
i have a problem in 4006 switch.
in that switch i have 2 RJ-45 modules.suddenly one day, some ports are not working.i think 3 ports in one module and 2 ports in another module.
i removed the cables from all these ports and tested
but its not giving any amber color on led's.
how can i test these ports.please suggest a solution.

Hello,
is this an IOS-based or CatOS-based switch ? For IOS-based switches, issue the command ´show interfaces counters errors´ and check if any of the counters are showing abnormal values.
If you have a chance to reboot the device, hook up to the switch and check the POST results during the boot process, it should tell you if ports are defective.
You might want to check the link below, it has extensive troubleshooting procedures (you need a CCO logon, let me know if you cannot access that document):
Hardware Troubleshooting for Catalyst 4000/4912G/2980G/2948G Series Switches
