Hi All,
We have a 7206vxr router with a pos interface: its PA-POS-1OC3 card currently in up/down status:
We already repalced the card but still same (up/down) condition.
R01#sh int pos 1/0
POS1/0 is up, line protocol is down
Hardware is Packet over Sonet
Description: PPP link to MPLS PE
Internet address is *****************
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation PPP, LCP ACKsent, crc 32, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Scramble enabled
Last input 00:00:05, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 4d12h
Input queue: 0/1000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue: 4/40 (size/max)
5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
75362 packets input, 1356464 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 parity
4 input errors, 7 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 3 abort
1628 packets output, 25438 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 applique, 5469 interface resets
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
1 carrier transitions
I tried putting an internal loop on the interface (new card): still it doesnt come up! as per my knowledge internal loopback means a loop within the card right? then its not coming up for internal loop also means even the new card has gone faulty or do I need replace the whole chasis?
R01#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
R01(config)#int pos 1/0
R01(config-if)#loopback ?
internal internal
line line
R01(config-if)#loopback internal
R01#sh int POS1/0
POS1/0 is up, line protocol is down

Do something else: loopback the circuit.
The objective is to prove to telco that the circuit is faulty, not the router.

Did you ever figure this out?

Yes Vblaha,
We replaced the chasis & WIC card with same configuration. The link came up.
So basically I understand it was chasis fault that made the WIC card not respond to even an internal loopback
Any more suggestions on this?
Thanks
