881 FE WAN port shutting down

wayfaring
Level 1
Level 1

881 returned from the field due to wan connectivity failure.  large number of  881's still deployed with no problems.  config has been reset, just basic ip setup now.  FastEthernet4 / FE WAN interface will not remain up - sh / no sh brings it up for a few seconds before it shuts down again.  pc connected to F0 / Vlan1 is able to ping the interface ip address for those few seconds before it shuts down again.  ethernet cables + test switch worked fine for another 881.  duplex & speed auto vs 100/full has no effect.

Did you try forcing the interface to stay up? I have used this for random remote management corner case issues on 2811s where loopbacks were not permitted. I am not completely sure if this command will be accepted on the 881 platform. Still worth a shot.

interface FastEthernet4

 no autostate

no autostate is not an available command on int F4 on this 881.   It is available on int Vlan1 though but no change after applying it on Vlan1.
