891 router slows down my internet speed more than a quater of the isp given speed

hello folks,

i recently configured an 891 router for a client and it worked very well, but less than 90 days, i got a call from the client that the internet speed has greatly reduced, i went there and it was true.

i decided to isolate the isp ONT box from the infrastructure, i tested the speed of the internet direct and it was very fast and the same value with what the isp provides, i used a different router (fortigate) and it worked very fine with the same speed given by the isp, i connected the network infrastructure with the fortigate router and the internet was very fine and all the users were happy.

i decided to reset the router and re configured it again but as soon as i connected it back to the network, the speed reduced again more than quater of the speed supplied by the ISP, so it became obvious that the fault is from the router.

this are the parameters i configured:

PPPOE on a dialer interface, added to the GI0/0 int

SVI for the L2 switched ports so that i could assign ip address to it

dhcp to give the host ip address

no security because i was using the fortigate firewall

is there anything i am oversighting or it is just the router that is bad?

suggestions please.

Cisco recommends the 890 series for up to 15 Mbps of WAN bandwidth.  How much bandwidth is this ISP connection?

the ISP connection is actually 15.6mbps

"15.6"; .6, that's seems a little unusual.  However, according to Cisco's recommendation, an 890 should be able to deal with that much bandwidth.

The WAN connection is 15.6 Mbps, symmetrical?  Handoff media is?  Handoff bandwidth is?

What's the CPU stats look like when you're unable to get the full 15.6 Mbps?

What's the interface stats look like, also when router is unable to support the 15.6 Mbps?

Are you able to post you config?

What IOS image are you running?

i have attached the router config, in txt format.

thanks

I think you're doing PPPoE, and if so, I believe it will fragment full size packets.  You might gain some benefit by using ip tcp adjust-mss 1452.

what will be the impact of this command
