Wilfredo,
It is quite possible that the router experienced a hardware malfunction. Unfortunately, such a problem is usually solved only by having the router replaced.
What I suggest is to take the router out of the network and bring it to a silent room, then power it up and check whether the fan is rotating and whether any LEDs come up. If the router remains completely dark and silent, its power supply might be shot.
If the router does seem to come up at least partially, I would suggest connecting a console cable to it and with a PC running PuTTY or HyperTerminal checking whether there are any messages logged on the console (9600 bits per second, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control). Where to go from there depends on what you see on the console connection.
What is the exact router type, anyway?
Best regards,
Peter
