ADSL2+ Annex M support

Hi Folks,

I have a 887G router with ADSL connectivity to my service provider.  I can sync at;

DSL Mode:        ITU G.992.1 (G.DMT) Annex A

The service provider offers higher speed connectivity vioa ADSL2+ but my router must support Annex M.  As far as I'm aware from the Cisco docs it should support but it will not sync up.  I think that I should see Annex M as an option uner the line config but I don't.

Router(config-if)#dsl operating-mode ?
  adsl2     ITU G.992.3 Annex A and L
  adsl2+    ITU G.992.5 Annex A
  ansi-dmt  ANSI T1.413
  auto      auto detect mode
  itu-dmt   ITU G.992.1 Annex A
  <cr>

Router(config-if)#dsl operating-mode

It's also not an option as some documents describe as an extension to the command;

Router(config-if)#dsl operating-mode adsl2+ ?
  <cr>

Router(config-if)#dsl operating-mode adsl2+

I think that my IOS may not support it, I am running version;

Cisco IOS Software, C880 Software (C880DATA-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(3)T1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

Does anyone know what IOS that I need to support Annex M?

Thanks in advance,

Shane.

As mentioned above:

Only specific 880 series models supports Annex M.

In the document you linked, look for these on Table 19.

Hi Shane--This Community Forum area is for Cisco Small Business Products. The Cisco 887G Router is not a

Cisco Small Business Router. You might want to post this at the Support Community that supports that type of router.

It's not IOS matter, you need a specific -M model to use Annex M, that is CISCO887VA-M-K9

Try asking your ISP to downgrade you to non-M.

Next time you can ask in WAN Routing and switch as you have a true IOS, Enterprise product, not Small Business one.

Thanks for your reply - I was afraid that it might be a hardware issue, however according to the DSL specifications on the following page, the 887 is shown to support Annex M,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/data_sheet_c78_459542_ps380_Products_Data_Sheet.html

This is why I thought my problem was IOS related.

Thanks,

Shane.

Regarding the new 887-VA models with the Broadcom multimode chipsets,  Annex M support will apparently be added to the Annex A models in a future IOS  release. This is, of course, no help to the OP if he has an older ST Micro based model.

Q. Is Annex M supported on the Cisco 887VA Annex A platform?

A. At product FCS, Annex M is not supported on the Cisco 887VA Annex A   platform. Annex M support will be enabled on the Cisco 887VA Annex A   platform with a later Cisco IOS® Software release.
