ASR 1001-X - Smartnet for 10GE interface activation license

Dear All,

I have two ASR 1001-X routers with two built-in 10GigEth interfaces each. I used Cisco "Build and Price" to have a quotation for activation licenses for these four interfaces.

When I add an activation license for one interface, the BnP adds automatically a Smartnet contract with it (so 4 Smartnets in total).

1) What is the sense of having a Smartnet contract for an activation Key ?

2) More so, for four identical interfaces with identical IOS ?

If this not what you looking then, contact Cisco License team or local Cisco SE can guide you better. i know it not make any sense to have 4.
