Hello
A few days ago I wanted to install a cisco ASR920 DC.
Configured in advance I thought everything should go smoothly, but this wasn't the case.
The cisco ASR920 keeps rebooting, telling me it does not find any bootflash:/
With other types of cisco I can enter the ROMMON to do some troubleshouting and install a new IOS in order to make it work again.
But on ASR920 as I send a break to enter ROMMON I only get a message if I want to reload the cisco with its default configuration which doesn't work eather because there's no valid IOS anymore.
Can someone tell me how I can troubleshoot this problem and upload a new IOS?
Thanks in advance

Hi, could you please share a few screenshots of what you see on the Router?

ASR keeps doing this.
He is in some sort of loop.

From the screenshot, PASSWORD RECOVERY FUNCTIONALITY IS DISABLED message is seen.
At some point in time, the command no service password-recovery was applied to the running configuration and saved.
This was likely seen at that moment:
Router(config)#no service password-recovery WARNING: Executing this command will disable password recovery mechanism. Do not execute this command without another plan for password recovery. Are you sure you want to continue? [yes/no]: yes Router(config)#
Unfortunately, the instruction is stored in a non-volatile memory in the Router and prevents you from going into ROMMON.
You only have the possibility to restore the configuration from scratch but since the IOS image seems corrupted or removed from bootflash, the Router loops. You probable see the below at some point during the process:
PASSWORD RECOVERY IS DISABLED. Do you want to reset the router to factory default configuration and proceed [y/n] ? Reset router configuration to factory default.
On this platform, bootflash is actually an embedded chip in the motherboard I believe. Hence, cannot be replaced or removed.
I'd suggest to open a Cisco TAC support case looking for a RMA of the unit.
Sorry, there seems to be no workaround.
HTH.

You are right.
I could upload a IOS and afterwards I configured a basic script in order to make the ASR 920 visible once installed.
I did a reload as I always do to make sure it restarts like it should be and at the office it actually did.
But I had bad luck on the moment I've installed it on clients location, at that point he was giving this problem.
Maybe I missed something or maybe I did cut the power too soon after preconfiguration...
Luckily we have some backup ASR 920 in stock as we need to install it often, so I could resolve the problem with another one.
I hoped to find another solution than giving it back to sender, but thanks anyway for your help.

Someone configured the router to boot the IOS from a USB thumb drive, however, the USB thumb drive is either missing or not supported.
In ROMMON, post the complete output to the command "dir bootflash:".

then after USB detected, here the script.. the it says kernel core dump: missing device/dev/bootflash1..then they repeat again..
