Hello
,
Does any of the ISR 4000 routers support async Serial interface modules?
I am looking to migrate a 2811 to 44xx. The 2811 is configured with NM-16A. I could not find an async module in the data sheets.
I do see serial interfaces that support synchronous communications, but I assume they cannot be configured to handle asynch communications?
Thanks in advance!

Looks like you are right cannot find any async modules. only async interface available is the aux port.

Thanks Richard!
Not sure what the proposed migration path for routers that used an asynch module.
Also, is reverse telnet (terminal server) what asynch lines on routers primarily used for?
Thanks!

I think these days only used to connect to console ports of other switches and routers.
In the past used with dial-up modems for client connections, also there were some old machines that only had async rs232 connections.

Ok, thanks!

Wow, I just realized this as well. We always used async modules on the ISR G2's for out of band management. They should have at least enabled the NIM-4T (or 1T/2T) to support Asynchronous serial, doesn't seem like they do: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/4000-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/datasheet-c78-732155.html
