Back-up/Redundent Link problem

Hi All,

We have a LL from our CO (Say Site A

) to another site (Say Site B) which is backed up by the Broadband wireless link. 2 days ago my LL went down so the traffic got shifted on the Wireless link.

I got with the telco people to troubleshoot the LL issue. I took a remote look from the Site B towards site A and my connectuivity went down totally on me. It happend as the interface on Serial port went UP/UP because of the loop and that is understandable.

Problem : When I tried to shutdown the Serial port manually, tha traffic still didnot get shifted to wireless link. Any Idea ? Then I did a shut on the serial interface which his as the CO but still the traffic didnot get shifted.

Then I poweroff the modem and still the traffic did not shifted ?

After that I did a no shut on the serial interface while the modem was off. and the traffic got back on the wireless link.

Any Ideas on this ?

regards,

-amit singh

If you point a static route to a broadcast interface, the route will be inserted into the routing table only when the broadcast interface is up. This configuration is not recommended because when the next hop of a static route points to an interface, the router considers each of the hosts within the range of the route to be directly connected through that interface. For example, ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Ethernet0.
