Best Router Recommendations for High-Density IoT Environment?

Hello Cisco Community,

I'm in the process of setting up a high-density IoT environment that requires a reliable and robust router. The use case involves managing a network with hundreds of connected devices, including sensors, smart home devices, and other IoT components. Stability and security are my top priorities, but I'm also looking for something that can handle large volumes of data and offer easy management features.

Could anyone recommend a router that would be suitable for this scenario? Ideally, I'm looking for something with strong performance in environments with numerous simultaneous connections, good throughput, and advanced security features. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend you to start with Cisco feature Navigator tool, do your initial research, select features on the left and it will show you relevant product on right, once you have narrowed it down, it you can ask more specific questions

Stability is often best using an IOS version that's deep into its maintenance life cycle. One that's in common usage is good too, especially in a similar usage role.  The latter can be difficult to determine without, perhaps, contacting Cisco pre-sales.

As a generalization, the larger more expensive devices tend to do well in stability and security attributes.

Sizing a device doesn't much care about host types.  What you need to know is aggregate bits per second, packets per second, new flows per second (much, much less important than it once was), how much "state" (e.g. routes, NAT, NetFlow, etc.) information needs to be stored and its "churn" rate.

If you can provide the prior information, router recommendations might be suggested.

Believe it or not, this is a "nice to have" but something has got to give:  Features vs price
