Hi!
I would like to know when and how do we use BGP AS-Path translation.
Hope someone can help me with that as not a lot of direct stuff is available on this topic.

Hello Emaad,
I have not heard about the feature before, but from what I have been able to find out, it seems simply to be a mechanism to translate AS numbers to textual names of their holders. This way, reading the entries of BGP RIB can be somewhat more illustrative, as the AS_PATH attributes are shown with the names of the ASN holders instead of just the ASNs themselves. This feature does not influence the AS_PATH contents in any way, however. It also does not seem that you can configure this on Cisco routers.
Have you seen this thread?

Hi Peter!
Thanks for your reply. Actually, I found what I was looking for. It is about AS migration.
Cisco has a couple of features which we can make use of for this purpose.
