AS numbers greater than or equal to 64512 are private AS numbers. There is no real impact as long as you don't leak those out to the Internet. The idea is to filter these out before sending routes to the Internet.

Paresh

Hello,

in addition to Paresh's post, do you mean AS numbers greater than 65535 (you said 64535) ? As stated, AS numbers from 64512 to 65535 are pivate AS numbers, which are not supposed to be used on the public Internet, and which most, if not all, ISPs block anyway...

A (Cisco) router will generate an error message when you try to type e.g. 'router bgp 70000', so you cannot actually configure anything greater than 65535...

Hope that makes sense,

GNT
