BGP graceful shut and restart

Hi All,

Bit confused with BGP graceful and restart procedures. Requirement is to shut bgp session to a bgp peer and then after the activity bring up the same session so that the BGP peering / route sharing gets back to normal.

neighbor<ipv4-address>shutdown graceful

neighbor ip-address activate

Above are the two main commands that do shut and restart of the sessions correct ?

I think .. for proper graceful shutdown you need to have the community configured ..

have not seen this on any company bgp routers in last 5 years. graceful bgp shutdown may be implemented on ISP routers
