BGP primary and secondary path selection

Hi All,

I have two locations as shown in the attached figure. Now the locations are connected with MPLS link and its working fine. I want to use the available VPN link as the secondary one. IPSec tunnel has been configured between V1 and V2 using the tunnel Interface. BGP is running on all devices. Neighbor ship has been established between V2 and L2 and am getting routes from L2 in V1.

I have created neighbor ship between L1 and V1 and for route priority i have configured M1 and M2 has higher 'weight' over V1 and V2.

But after establishing the full neighborship the connectivity started flapping.

Please help me to configure these links in failover mode.

Thanks in advance.

Shijo.

Your drawing does not show how you defined your AS boundaries.

This is fairly important in order to provide clues.

Please update your drawing.

Also note that weight is a local parameter which is not transferred to other routers in the AS.

Leo

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Please find the updated diagram with AS details.

Hi,

post the configs you've done so far and the results with pings/traceroutes

Regards.

Alain

Don't forget to rate helpful posts.

Yeah, configs may indeed be helpful.

Did you also configure ibgp peering between routers M1-V1 and M2-V2?

What about the MPLS side? There is no ip info there.

Normally there should be another AS between them.

Looking at the config is the only method to see how you did this.

Leo

Dear All,

Thank you  very much for your replies and support. Issue has been resolved with AS-Path prepend and weight. I have no access to the perimeter routers because its provided and maintained by ISP only. Thats y I couldn't post the cofigurations.

Thanks again.

Shijo.
