I have a customer wishing to advertise a /24 PI subnet. They have 2 routers currently in an active/passive config with VRRP configured as a virutal gateway. They now wish to use BGP for the 2 routers, the currently go to the same ISP but they don't have an AS number. Is is possible for them to advertise this subnet with one ?

Why not consider using IGP/iBGP  between you and customer and redistribute to BGP, is this works ?

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello,

--> They now wish to use BGP for the 2 routers, the currently go to the same ISP but they don't have an AS number.

Can you explain what you mean by that ? They run BGP but don't know the AS number of the ISP ? They don't have a public AS to configure on their routers ?

Either way, without a BGP AS, they cannot use BGP.

Hello
If you have a requirement to interconnect towards multiple ISP's then you'll need to obtain to a public ASN, However if you only interconnect to a single ISP then you should be able to use a private ASN.
