Hi Folks,
Can you help.
Have a 819HG-4G router. Running IOS 15.3(3)M.
When I try to create an LTE profile the IOS does not allow me to set the pap/chap username and password for the APN. Any idea how this should be set.
The exec command gives the following....
hostname#cell 0 lte profile create 2 vodafone ipv4 ?
<cr>
Look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Phil

Hello,
the syntax is:
cellular 0 gsm profile create <profile number> <apn> <authentication> <username> <password> ipv4
What are your options after:
hostname#cell 0 lte profile create 2 vodafone ?

Hi Georg
Thanks for the reply.
The only option I have after the APN is IPV4.
Cheers,
Phil

Hello,
is Vodafone actually requiring authentication ?
What is the output of 'show cellular 0 profile' ?

Hello,
if possible, try and upgrade to:
15.4(3)M7

Hi Georg
Many thanks. I think I will probably need to upgrade the IOS but am puzzled why the current version will not allow me to include the username/password in the profile and whether there is an alternative method.
In actual fact I am using an Arkessa Vodafone SIM - the APN is arkessahg.com. It uses PAP for authentication and requires a Username/Password
Below are the details of the options that are available for setting the profile.
Hostname#cell 0 ?
lte LTE Technology Commands
Hostname#cell 0 lte ?
oma-dm Open Mobile Alliance Device Management
plmn PLMN Commands
prl-region View/set PRL region
profile LTE Profile management commands
sim SIM card commands
sms SMS Commands
technology LTE Technology Preferences
Hostname#cell 0 lte profile ?
create Create/Edit a Profile
delete Delete a profile
HostnameN#cell 0 lte profile create 2 ?
WORD Access Point Name
<cr>
Hostname#cell 0 lte profile create 2 arkessahg?
ipv4 IPv4 type Bearer
ipv4v6 I PV4V6 type Bearer
ipv6 PV6 type Bearer
<cr>
Hostname#cell 0 lte profile create 2 arkessahg ipv4 ?
<cr>
Hostname#
The router is currently using an EE SIM which does not require authentication
The output of cell 0 profile is as follows:
Hostname#sh cell 0 profile
Profile password Encryption level: 7
Profile 1 = ACTIVE* **
--------
PDP Type = IPv4
PDP address = 31.103.35.105
Access Point Name (APN) = internetvpn
Primary DNS address = 109.249.185.228
Secondary DNS address = 109.249.185.229
Configured default profile for active SIM 1 is profile 1.
Hostname#

Hello,
in general, the availability of command options is IOS dependent, so an upgrade is likely to give you the authentication options.
Curious to know if 15.4(3)M7 or higher solves this...
