Hi,

I have some 2600XM routers in my home lab that I need to upgrade to the .8r boot rom.

These chips sell for around $50 online at sites like anthonypanda.com.

Does anyone know if I can just take one of my .8r chips from an already

upgraded router and burn my own ?

I can't tell exactly which chips it uses but they are 32 pin PLCC type

I think.

If anyone has been down that route could you provide info.

Looks like the burners are about $50 bucks and the chips about $5 bucks

so it could be cost effective for me.

Thanks

Darren

You would be "bootlegging" the code ... that would be illegal in most places.

Cisco has a copyright on the code as Intellectual Property and would likely frown on reproduction without authorization.
