Hello,

I ran into a strange problem. When I want to change the ethernet0 interface of a Cisco 828 sdsl router, but there is no command to do that in the interface configuration mode (speed 100 and duplex full).

A show interface gives 10MB half duplex and I want to change this.

This is the running config (a little censored):

!

!

interface Ethernet0

ip address 16.228.232.137 255.255.255.248

no ip redirects

no ip unreachables

no ip proxy-arp

no ip mroute-cache

no keepalive

hold-queue 100 out

!

interface ATM0

no atm ilmi-keepalive

!

scheduler max-task-time 5000

end

a show interfaces gives

Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is PQUICC Ethernet, address is 000d.bc58.8872 (bia 000d.bc58.8872)

  Internet address is

16.228.232.137/29

  MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit/sec, DLY 1000 usec,

     reliability 255/255, txload 11/255, rxload 1/255

  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

  Keepalive not set

  Half-duplex, 10Mb/s

How can I change this setting?

With kind regards,

Ralph Willemsen

Ralph,

Unfortunately, the interface is Ethernet and not FastEthernet. This is a 10Mb interface and can't be changed...

I believe that John is correct about the interface speed being limited to 10. There might be an option for duplex. And this might improve performance a bit.
