Hi,
I have recently purchased a Channelized STM-1/OC3 SPA card for my 7600 router. framing is SDH and I need to use au-4 as my AUG mapping. Mux is mapping my first two tug-3 to a customer. Can I have these two tug-3 bundled into one serial interface? If can't what's the minimum number of serial interfaces that I can get?
I checked the configuration guide but couldn't find a good description....
Thx

hi,
the basic container is C-12, so the basic logical channel is E1. You can use up to DS0 (64k) channel. So if you can higher speed than E1, you must use m-ppp or m-fr and group logical serial together on L2.

correct. but with following configuration we can use it in E3.
controller sonet 3/0/0
framing sdh
aug mapping au-4
au-4 1 aug-3 1
mode {c-12 | e3 }
!
If you specify the mode as c-12, you can configure E1s. If you specify the mode as e3, you can configure E3.

my fault, i am using chstm1 pa in c7200 and this pa doesnot support e3. But back to your question - you cannot bundle e3 together, simmilary you cannot bundle e1 together on L1. You must use L2.

yes, of course. this is what we discuss - you have to use L2 (PPP,FR), you cannot group logical channels (e1/3) on L1. E1 (in mode c-12), resp. E3 (in mode e3) is the base rate and cannot be grouped to build higher rate, it is not in SONET or SDH standard.

Hi
Yes you are correct !!
The Virtual Container should contain the same rate . We can't build container that have different base rates.
The container is an identification the base rates & it should be always same as per standards.
So we need to use L2 to make a bundle of multiple E1
