cheapest router with 3 FE ports

Hi,

I am trying to hunt down the cheapest way to provide a router with 3 x FE ports, and it is proving to be expensive.

The cheapest i can find would be a 2691 with a NM-16ESW (16 port switch module!!!)

this sounds ridiculous... surely a NM-1FE would be a good idea

help would be appreciated

Nathan

Cheaper could be a Linksys router or a Linux box with 3 FE NICs.

Thanks.

If you still want to use a cisco router, a 1721 with wic-4esw will give you 1 onboard fast E and 4 switch ports. All the switch ports are 10/100 and you can configure vlans and layer 3 address for those vlans and still route between all these 5 interfaces.

Thats great ..

do you think this card will work with teh 2600 series

?

i take that back. I dont think these cards work with 2600 series. I cant find any direct reference that states this. It definitely works with 1700.

This is the problem i am having...

It seems crazy that there is not a single FE NM for the 2600 series..

There used to be but it has been stoped.

2691 is just over kill for what i need

I am connecting a 10 Mbps LRE circuit into MPLS and the client needs 2 LAN Eth ports for redundancy purposes...

looks like i will have to go for the dot1q route, lan side

An alternative option is to use a 1800 or 2800 series with hwic-4esw.
