Circuit Emulation over IP (NM-CEM-4TE1)

Hi All,

Hope you can offer some help...

I've configured two routers with two NM-CEM-4TE1 cards configured to allow a E1 circuit across an IP network.

Setup:

2Mbps Tester -------CEM Card ----Router A ----Fa0/0 ------ethernet switch ------Fa0/0---Router B-----CEM Card------Looped end

Router A is configured with an internal clock and Router B is configured with a Ad closed loop (Configurations enclosed).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Router A

controller E1 1/0

framing UNFRAMED

cem-group 0 unframed

clock source internal

!

controller E1 1/1

!

controller E1 1/2

!

controller E1 1/3

!

cem 1/0/0

dejitter-buffer 200

payload-compression

payload-size 256

xconnect 10.216.184.10 0 encapsulation udp

local ip addr 10.216.184.9

local udp port 15873

remote udp port 15872

!

interface Loopback1

ip address 10.216.184.9 255.255.255.255

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Router B

ontroller E1 1/0

framing UNFRAMED

cem-group 0 unframed

clock source adaptive 0 closed-loop

!

controller E1 1/1

!

controller E1 1/2

!

controller E1 1/3

!

cem 1/0/0

dejitter-buffer 200

payload-compression

payload-size 256

xconnect 10.216.184.9 0 encapsulation udp

local ip addr 10.216.184.10

local udp port 15872

remote udp port 15873

interface Loopback1

ip address 10.216.184.10 255.255.255.255

The configuration looks ok but I'm getting errors on the 2Mbps tester and depending on the dejitter/payload sizes error on the CEM card e.g dejitter overruns/underruns and dropped packets etc..

Do you have a configuration example that has been used in a real network? I've tried lots of changes but still can't get the 2 Mbps tester to not error...

Do you know if there is anything odd that should effect the tester? IOS Version I'm running is Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(9)T2 on both devices, I've checked didn't see anything regarding errors/bugs on this IOS.

Any help you can give would be great...

Regards,

Jim.

Hi Jim,

I suggest you open a case with the TAC and request escalation, your application is not trivial and if the test tool is exact as I can suppose, you must get the best support to understand what is going on.

Hi Paolo,

Thanks for the advice, I have a couple of Cisco chaps working on the problem already.

I'll let you know the outcome.

Jim
