Cisc0 7604 Logs explanation required

Hi,

This symptoms are matching bug "CSCsy00924 Log Message macedon_cwan_rewrite_adj: Changing interface to P2P!, ifvlan".

The problem appears to be related to having an SVI configured on a vlan configured on 'crypto engine slot'. There is no discernable impact to customer traffic, but the message may fill the log buffers by generating many messages per second on a one minute cycle. The workaround is to remove the IP Address from the reported vlan.

The CSCsy00924 is fixed in SRE releases and later.

Kind Regards,
Ivan Shirshin

Re: Cisc0 7604 Logs explanation required

Dear Ivan

Thanks for the great reply. Our other Core router is working on the similar configuration but I havent seen these log messages on that router. Is there any way to turn off these logs as they will fill out the log buffers. Also I dont understand the workaround "The workaround is to remove the IP Address from the reported vlan" . Our Core Routers are configured like the way I pasted above and Removal of IP address from VLAN will not serve the purpose.

Re: Cisc0 7604 Logs explanation required

Hi,

There are several conditions for this bug to be triggered, maybe on other routers not all of them are hit (e.g. some may not use crypto functionality).

About workaround  - if you  configure 'no ip address' for problem vlan, the message stops in relation to that vlan. Since removal of IP is not possible, suppressing messages can be done either by disabling logging completely or by fixing the issue with the IOS upgrade.
