We do not know much about your environment and that makes comprehensive answers difficult. Here are some questions and some suggestions:
- what model of 1800 is this. And more importantly how many/what kind of interfaces does it have?
- your reference to lease line suggests that it would connect using a serial interface. Is that correct? If so what kind of serial interface?
- if you have 5 computers to connect you will need some type of switch to connect to the 1800 and the 5 computers would connect to the switch. (the 1800 does not have enough Ethernet ports to connect directly to 5 computers)
- who will you be connecting to on the lease line? Who you connect to should assign an IP subnet to be used, and assign an IP address for you to use and a gateway address to which you would forward traffic.
- on your lease line you should configure the IP address and subnet mask as assigned to you.
- you should choose an IP addressing plan (IP subnet and mask) to use for the computers.
- on an Ethernet interface you should configure an IP address from the subnet you have chosen and a subnet mask.
- the switch would connect to that Ethernet interface.
- the computers would connect to switch ports and be configured with appropriate IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
- you should configure a default route using the information provided for your lease line.
- you probably should configure a local use ID and password to enable management of the 1800.
