Hi,

replace this:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 FastEthernet0 permanent

by this:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dhcp

Regards.

What type is your WAN Connection?

At least you should change default gateway to IP address of WAN router instead of Interface.
You should use interface as default gateway in case you have pppoe connection for example.

Take the IP address off of fa1 and put it on vlan1 then "no shut" the vlan 1 interface.

Thanks Alain, that was the correct answer!

maybe you can explain why it know works?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

it's working now because your default route is pointing towards the next-hop( that you got via dhcp) instead of the outgoing interface.HAving a static route pointing out a multipoint interface like ethernet can only work if the next-hop is implementing proxy-arp( which is a security concern and is so disabled by default on most devices).

Regards.

Alain
